The Microfit File saagmf2.fit contains macroeconomic data for South Africa, together with some data on the manufacturing sector.
- Use this data to replicate the estimation results for the Feder-Ram growth model in Batchelor, Dunne and Saal (1999) Military Spending and Economic Growth in South Africa", Economics Discussion Paper No. 62, Middlesex University Business School, February.
- Estimate a Cobb Douglas production function and use this to test for any significant effect of military spending on economics growth.
- Consider whether any other forms of production function might be usefully used for the same purpose.
