Sixth Annual Middlesex Conference on Economics and Security

21st-22nd June 2002

Offers of papers are invited for a conference sponsored by Economists Allied for Arms Reductions (ECAAR), the Arms Production and Trade Group, and Middlesex University Business School. The conference will consider the relations between arms production and trade, conflict, security and economic development in both developed and developing countries. The conference will have plenary sessions with keynote speakers plus specialist workshop streams.

Proposed topics include:

• Globalisation and the restructuring of the MIC
• Economics of conflict and post-conflict reconstruction
• Economics of the arms trade
• Procurement and offsets
• Economics of information warfare
• Arms races and alliances
• The peace dividend and conversion
• Policy responses

But offers of papers on other related topics are welcome.
